California Proposition 65
If your company is bombarded with requests from customers asking for your latest compliance status to California Proposition 65, you'll want to start by downloading the latest materials and substances list.
This spreadsheet was published on April 21, 2023 by OEHHA, the group that manages the Prop65 list and conducts substance reviews.
After downloading the spreadsheet, determine if any products that you or your customers sell into the state of California contain the materials, chemicals, and/or substances on this list.
Work with your engineers and suppliers to collect accurate information. If your products expose consumers to one or more of these chemicals then it is important to properly label products before they are sold.
Make sure your company is protected by knowing the law well.
The list was created by OEHHA to help companies deliver accurate information to their customers about the presence of toxic materials that may cause cancer or reproductive harm after exposure.
Released April 21, 2023:
What types of chemicals are on the Proposition 65 list?
According to the OEHHA website - "The list contains a wide range of naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals that are known to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm. These chemicals include additives or ingredients in pesticides, common household products, food, drugs, dyes, or solvents. Listed chemicals may also be used in manufacturing and construction, or they may be byproducts of chemical processes, such as motor vehicle exhaust."
